New Functionality for Item Management API Calls & On Request Reports in June 2024

New Releases: June 2024

In June 2024, Walmart launched a new functionality for the Item Management API to help suppliers automate their workflows. Previously this function was only available in Supplier One. Walmart has also refreshed all existing Item Setup and Maintenance Feedtype specs to align with the latest standards in Supplier One. This helps Suppliers maximize their content quality scores.

The new updated functionalities include:

  • (NEW) Store Item Setup Through API: Walmart helps suppliers set up items in Walmart stores with the new item setup feed type OMNI_OWNED_ITEM. This feed type helps set up any items that are sold and shipped to Walmart, whether they are sold at a Walmart-owned store or at a store and eCommerce. Learn more here

  • (NEW) Item Configuration On Request Report: Download all of the Walmart Item Numbers (WINs), associated Supply Chain & Logistics attributes, and costs in a single report using Walmart's On Request Reporting Platform. This functionality lets suppliers download more than the 5,000 item limitation present in Supplier One. Learn more here

  • (UPDATE) Item Setup and Maintenance Feed Type versions: Walmart has updated product type item setup and maintenance feed types. Learn more here. Key changes include:

    • Supporting Used/Refurbished Item Setup: During item setup, suppliers can define an item’s condition and setup used or refurbished items for sale.

    • Updated Attribute and Value Lists: All versions have updated attributes and value lists to align with the latest attributes and value lists available in Supplier One.

    • Removal of Attributes for Maintenance: Suppliers can no longer edit the following key attributes:

      * **Orderable Data Model:** The start and end dates are no longer editable by suppliers. Contact the merchant to edit. * **Visible/Product Type:** This applies to all variant groupings. Use Supplier One data. * **Supply Chain:** The Walmart department number and information provider global location number (GLN) are no longer editable by suppliers. Contact the merchant to edit, or update in the GS1 connection.

  • ( UPDATE) Item Product Type Taxonomy: Walmart has updated the item product type taxonomy. This update has all new available product types, classifications, and department numbers.

Updated Schema Files and What Has Changed

All new feed file schemas are available in Walmart’s feed file section. Walmart provides a differences report for all changes made between the two versions of the feed file. This differences report has:
