Item set lifecycle
Understand item set lifecycle statuses, processing outcomes, and readiness requirements.
Item set lifecycle
Item set status flow
Item sets move through an asynchronous build lifecycle. A successful create or update response does not mean the item set is ready to use. Always wait until the item set reaches built status before using it in campaign measurement or audience workflows.
Step 1
Draft
The item set has been created, but it has not yet been submitted or processed.
Step 2
Pending
The item set is queued for processing.
Step 3
Building
The item set is being validated and built.
Ready to use
Built
The item set is successfully built and ready to use in campaign measurement or audience workflows.
Action required
Invalid
The item set definition is invalid. Correct the request and create or update the item set again.
Important: Item set creation and updates trigger an asynchronous build process, so the item set should always be verified before it is used for measurement or targeting.
