Update: Fitment and vehicle compatibility

Date: September 02, 2026

Overview

Walmart Marketplace is simplifying automotive item setup by reducing the fitment attributes sellers need to provide and maintain. Sellers can continue providing vehicle compatibility through existing ACES workflows or the Walmart Vehicle Compatibility Excel Template. For complete setup and compatibility requirements, refer to the Automotive fitment guide.

Sellers must continue to provide an accurate Brand Name and manufacturer-published Manufacturer Part Number (MPN). Walmart uses these values to associate items with the appropriate fitment data, including applicable part type and vehicle compatibility information.

We're also updating vehicle compatibility coverage reporting and expanding fitment-specific error information to help sellers and solution providers identify and resolve fitment issues.

What's new

  • Simplified item setup and maintenance: AAIA Brand Id, Part Terminology Id, and Walmart Fitment Brand Code have been removed from the item setup and maintenance specification. Sellers must continue to provide an accurate Brand Name and manufacturer-published MPN.

  • Vehicle compatibility options: Provide vehicle compatibility through ACES XML or the Walmart Vehicle Compatibility Excel Template. This change applies only to item setup and maintenance specifications. If you submit vehicle compatibility through ACES XML, the existing ACES requirements for AAIA Brand ID and PTID remain unchanged. Refer to the Walmart Vehicle Compatibility Reference Guide for supported vehicle values, configurations, positions, and part types.

  • Vehicle compatibility coverage reporting: The Vehicle Compatibility Coverage Report is being updated to help identify published automotive items that are missing corresponding vehicle compatibility coverage. The underlying FITMENT_ACES_COVERAGE report type is temporarily unavailable while Walmart updates the report and will become available again after the update is complete.

  • Missing attributes report retirement: Because the associated fitment attributes are no longer required during item setup and maintenance, the FITMENT_MISSING_ATTR report type is no longer needed and is being permanently removed from Seller Center and the Partner API.

  • Existing fitment feed types remain unchanged: Continue to use FITMENT_ACES and FITMENT_PIES for their supported fitment workflows.

  • Expanded fitment error information: Additional fitment-specific error codes are available for validation and ingestion issues, including Brand ID and Brand Name validation, XML structure, record count, and Excel file errors.

Why it matters

These changes reduce the amount of fitment-specific data sellers need to understand and maintain during item setup, while preserving existing vehicle compatibility submission workflows.

Sellers can focus on providing accurate Brand Name and manufacturer-published MPN values, while Walmart uses this information to associate items with the appropriate fitment data.

Next steps

  • Review the Automotive fitment guide for complete item setup and vehicle compatibility requirements.
  • Stop submitting AAIA Brand Id, Part Terminology Id, and Walmart Fitment Brand Code as part of the item setup and maintenance specification.
  • Continue providing accurate Brand Name and manufacturer-published MPN values during item setup.
  • Continue using FITMENT_ACES and FITMENT_PIES for supported fitment submissions. Existing ACES XML requirements, including BrandAAIAID and PartTerminologyID, have not changed.
  • Update integrations that consume fitment reports to account for the permanent retirement of FITMENT_MISSING_ATTR and the temporary unavailability of FITMENT_ACES_COVERAGE.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot fitment feeds using the Feed item status API and Feed error report API.
