New: Request GTIN exemptions during item setup

Overview

Sellers can now request GTIN exemptions directly through the Item Setup feed as part of the item onboarding workflow.

What's new

Sellers can now request GTIN exemptions during both seller-fulfilled (MP_ITEM) and Walmart Fulfillment Services (MP_WFS_ITEM) item setup by using CUSTOM as the Product ID with GTIN as the Product ID type.

The workflow supports requests across multiple brands and product types and can result in automatic approval, automatic denial, or manual review.

Why it matters

Processing GTIN exemption requests directly in existing item setup workflows simplifies onboarding, reduces unnecessary item setup retries, and enables API users to request exemptions within their existing integration flow.
