Insights API overview

Insights APIs provide programmatic access to listing performance data, including unpublished items and listing quality metrics.

You can use the Insights APIs to automate workflows that would otherwise require manual review in Seller Center’s Analytics sections. For example, you can programmatically track assortment growth, retrieve best-selling items by department and category, and monitor unpublished items to trigger corrective actions.

Prerequisites

Before using the Walmart Marketplace APIs, ensure that you have:

  • Seller or approved Solution Provider access to Walmart Marketplace APIs.
  • Retrieve API keys (clientId and clientSecret) from the Developer Portal and use the keys to call Marketplace APIs.
  • OAuth 2.0 authentication is required to access the Walmart Marketplace APIs. Ensure that you have obtained the necessary credentials and tokens before making API requests. For more information, refer to OAuth 2.0 authorization.

Unpublished items API

Use these unpublished items APIs to determine why items have been unpublished. You can identify the specific reason codes, take corrective action to republish items, and determine the total cost impact of items unpublished for a specific reason. These APIs help fine-tune your offerings and republish items that went to unpublished status.

  • Get Unpublished items count API: Specify a date to return all unpublished items since that date. The response includes the total count of unique items unpublished per reason code, with a total cost of all unpublished items per reason code.
  • Get Unpublished items API: Specify a reason code to retrieve detailed information about the affected items.

Listing Quality API

Use these Listing Quality APIs to monitor key listing quality metrics and retrieve your overall listing quality score. These APIs provide both catalog-level and item-level insights to help you identify and address listing quality issues.

About Listing Quality

Listing Quality is measured based on four metric categories. These metrics measure the overall catalog performance and item-level listing quality.

  • Content: Item title (for example, inaccurate product name), item description (for example, missing, misspelled, or too long descriptions), and image quality (for example, insufficient or low-resolution images).
  • Discoverability: How easily buyers can find items through search and left navigation. This includes attributes such as brand, manufacturer part numbers, colors, and size.
  • Offer: How competitive the price is compared to other listings, available shipping speeds (for example, (TwoDay, ThreeDay), and whether the item is published and is in stock.
  • Ratings & Reviews**: Buyer rating and reviews for items.
