Global API migration FAQ
Is migration to the Global Marketplace APIs mandatory?
US sellers: No. Your current US API integration will keep working.
Canada, Mexico, Chile sellers: Yes. You must migrate to the Global Marketplace APIs.
Why should international sellers or solution providers migrate?
With one integration you can launch in additional markets. All new features are released only to the Global APIs, so you stay current.
What is the benefit for US sellers or solution providers who operate only in the US?
If you plan to expand outside the US, start with the Global APIs so you can reuse the same codebase in every market.
Will my existing US API integration break?
No. US-only integrations continue to run unchanged.
What happens to existing Canada, Mexico, or Chile integrations?
They must be migrated to the Global APIs (single endpoint, JSON payloads).
Your current integration will run until we announce a decommission date.
Can I reuse my US integration to sell in Canada, Mexico, or Chile?
Yes. After you finish onboarding for the new market, call the same endpoint, include the market code (for example CA), and use API version 3.1.
Refer to the Global API reference for exact parameters.
Are the Global APIs backward compatible with the current US APIs?
Yes.
Can I keep using my existing client ID and secret?
- US sellers or solution providers expanding to other markets: Use the client ID and secret issued for each new market.
- App Store solution providers (US): You may keep your current US credentials.
- Canada sellers or solution providers migrating to Global APIs: Generate new keys once by signing in to the Developer Portal and choosing API keys in the left menu.
Does access to one market automatically enable others?
No. You must complete onboarding for each additional market before you can transact there via the Global APIs.
Where can I find the legacy-to-Global API mapping for my market?
Refer to the market-specific to Global API mapping guide. It includes a spreadsheet that maps market-specific legacy APIs to the corresponding Global APIs and highlights capabilities that are available only in the Global APIs.
