New Item Spec v4.0 for Marketplace Sellers

Oct 12 2020

To make it easier and faster for sellers to set up and maintain items, we created a new Item Spec v4.0. This new spec is a complete overhaul of the Item Spec v3.2, that modernizes the Walmart Global Data Model with over 250 new and improved attributes, and better organization to make your products easy for buyers to discover in searches and grouped for ease of navigation in the online shelves.

For an overview of the benefits, see Item Spec v4.0.
To learn how to use Item Spec v4.0, see Item Object v4.0 (BETA).

Item Object Improvements

  • Attributes are optimized with better data definitions, modern attribute names, and precise organization.
  • Added 150 new product and compliance attributes.
  • Increased buyer search discoverability for your items.
  • More variant group options to organize products in site navigation for better buyer visibility.
  • Added 80 new category attributes.
  • Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) sellers can now use a single setup process with one spec for combined Marketplace and WFS items.
  • Automated product tax code assignment. You don't need to assign your items to the tax code, item spec v4.0 does that for you!

New Spec Versions and Feeds

The Item Setup API uses three new feed types:  MP_Item, MP_WFS_ITEM, or MP_MAINTENANCE for you to use with the new item spec versions:

  • Marketplace spec  - for Marketplace sellers to set up items
  • Combined Marketplace and WFS spec  - for single setup process for sellers to set up items for use on Marketplace and WFS
  • Maintenance spec - to maintain existing items

To take advantage of the new item management efficiency, make sure to use the Item 4.0 spec and new feed types when you do your initial setup with the Bulk Item Setup API.

Get an Item API Improvements

Oct 07 2020

We have made improvements to Get an Item API. You can now fetch an item in your catalog using various identifiers including GTIN, UPC, EAN, ISBN, or Item_ID, in addition to SKU. This helps in troubleshooting SKU/GTIN mismatches in your catalog.

See more details for Get an Item API here.

New Shipping Templates APIs and Reports

Oct 01 2020

Introducing Shipping Templates for all shipping methods to let you manage your shipping settings (e.g. service levels, shipping regions, transit times, and shipping rates) across several products at once. The Shipping Templates aim to bridge the gap between promise and actual delivery time by giving granular region level customisation capability for your assortment and fulfilment options management.

Each seller account can create up to 15 shipping templates and map specific groups of SKUs to each.

Capabilities included as a part of the new features are –

1. Ability for seller to CREATE and MANAGE ship-settings as Shipping Template

  • Shipping Template Management APIs

2. Ability to assign custom SKUs to Shipping Template via Bulk Upload/API or ItemSpec

  • Shipping Overrides APIs

3. Visibility of Item to Ship-template mapping details through Reports

  • Shipping Configuration Report
  • Shipping Program Report

Refer to the detailed documentation on developer portal for the new APIs.
Refer the Knowledge Base article here for complete details on Shipping Templates.

New Order and Auto-Cancelled Order Notifications

Sep 16 2020

To help you improve your order management and fulfil your orders on-time with efficiency, we bring to you Order Status Webhook Notifications. You can now receive automated notifications when a new purchase order is created for you or when your order line is auto-cancelled by Walmart.

To begin getting order notifications, you should first create a webhook subscription for Orders events (as per details given below). As soon as you subscribe for New Purchase Order notification, Walmart will begin sending you a webhook notification payload whenever a new purchase order is created. And if you subscribe to Auto-Cancelled notification, Walmart will send you a notification when your purchase order line is auto-cancelled by Walmart. Auto-cancellation is done if order line is not updated to Shipped status with a valid tracking number by Estimated Ship Date (ESD) + 8 calendar days (Refer the KB article here for details).

New Purchase Order Notification :-

Event Type: PO_CREATED

Event Version : V1

Resource Name: ORDER

Auto-Cancelled Notification :-

Event Type: PO_LINE_AUTOCANCELLED

Event Version : V1

Resource Name: ORDER

You can follow these steps to get started :-

  1. Configure a destination URL where you will receive the notifications.
  2. Create subscription for the event ‘PO_CREATED’ and for the event ‘PO_LINE_AUTOCANCELLED’ by providing destination URL details. Refer the documentation here for details on how to subscribe.
  3. Once subscription is created, Walmart will push the notifications to your destination URL whenever the event occurs.
  4. Send auto-acknowledgment for the notification with an HTTP status of 2xx.

More details on how to get started on Webhooks and other available events for subscription can be found on developer portal here.
